Week 3, Number 6--Flickr fun, mashups & 3rd party sites

Last week I had an opportunity to play with Flick'r and explore different fun opportunities to communicate via photos. Lots of family activities coming up this summer, so a great opportunity
to post and share photos, with witty captions to keep the summer family fun alive.

I did somehow manage to create a Flick'r badge to add to my blog, which I find refreshing on the site. It adds texture, color, interest. Flickr was great, but it takes time to become adept and skillful at all the tricks. What will happen when school is in session and the students need non-stop attention? Will I be able to find photos that will dramatize books that are on Harbor's book sharing blog?

Also this week: played with the blog site itself--changing text and font, to increase visual appeal and highlight different points. Like Flick'r--it all takes time.

In the news this week: Wikipedia as a topical news source, quickly updated and put on the record. How will this affect "current events" assignments? How do I explain this to students? Will they bring the concern to me?

Sounds like you've been doing all sorts of cool 2.0 stuff. You might want to edit your post and link to the sites like Flickr and wikipedia, so it will be easy to go there again when you look back at your posts weeks or months from now. It also helps your readers to get to the fun sites you've discovered. Remember, you can bold, change font colors, add pictures, and all sorts of things when you post. :)

Best wishes.
